On Community-Based Art and Catastrophe
Monday, March 21, 2022 at 4:30pm
VCAM Screening Room
Haverford College

A roundtable discussion featuring Adiene Jenik, Li Sumpter, and Tal Beery exploring recent works that address grief, grievance, and healing during global pandemic and social upheaval. The artists will discuss their practice in relationship to ongoing climate, pandemic, and racialized violence and inequalities. They describe experiences in different spaces of “community,” including neighborhoods, medical institutions, non-profits, and educational institutions. Following adrienne maree brown, at its heart this roundtable asks: “How do we turn our collective full-bodied intelligence towards collaboration, if that is the way we will survive?”

Part of the Spring 2022 Tuttle Creative Residency with Adriene Jenik.
